
Bamburgh Castle is a coastal heathland course with fast true greens and plenty of heather and whin to catch the wayward shot. You don’t need to look far for inspiration with beautiful views of the famous castle and beach.
The Roxburghe was designed by Dave Thomas in 1997 and has hosted a number of professional events. The signature 14th hole “Viaduct” has become one of the iconic images of Scottish golf with its view from the elevated tee to the old railway viaduct which spans the River Teviot.
The course at Goswick is of a slightly older vintage, having been designed by James Braid. It is a classic links course which sits amongst the dunes and is perfect for those who enjoy their seaside “chip and run” golf. It has recently been chosen as a regional qualifying course for the Open Championship.
The east links at Dunbar are one of the finest stretches of seaside golf in East Lothian. Its third hole is listed in the book "1001 Golf Holes To Play Before You Die". This is the final qualifying course when the Open Championship is staged at Muirfield and has fine views across the Firth of Forth.
The Glen in North Berwick is another really picturesque course, with a mix of links and parkland turf. It has stunning views to the small island of the Bass Rock on the Firth of Forth. On a summer evening with lengthening shadows it is a real joy to play golf here.
Longniddry has a mixture of both tree lined fairways and more open links golf, although the light sandy soil overall gives the course more of a links feel. The course has hosted British Seniors and was a final qualifying course for the Open Championship.
Kilspindie (the 35th oldest club in the world) is a fantastic little links course with holes that hug the coastline and spectacular views over Gosford bay towards Edinburgh. Its fast running fairway and really true greens offer a great test of golf. The well stocked bar offers a selection of over 70 malt whiskies.
Rolling hills in the Borders follow the River Tweed down to the north sea with its stunning coastal scenery in North Nothumberland and East Lothian. A great mixture of courses - some of which are used as regional and final qualifying courses for the Open Championship.
Less than an hour from Edinburgh and two hours from Glasgow. Only two or three hours from the major cities in the North of England by car or rail.
